TEACHING CHILDREN

James T. White has said that perhaps the most effective illustration of obedience is the reply of the mother of George Washington made at the banquet given to the allied officers after the surrender of Lord Cornwallis.

A distinguished French officer asked Washington's mother how she managed to rear such a splendid son.

She replied, "I taught him to obey.”

Pro 22:6 (GNB): “Teach children how they should live and they will remember it all their life.”

“If you bungle raising your children, I don’t think whatever else you do matters very much.” -  Jackie Kennedy.

Pro 29:15 (ICB): “Punishment and correction make a child wise.  If he is left to do as he pleases, he will disgrace his mother.”

“Let no Christian parents fall into the delusion that Sunday School is intended to ease them of their personal duties. The first and most natural condition of things is for Christian parents to train up their own children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” - Charles Spurgeon.
